I had the best time photographing five day old baby Grace in her family’s home. When I first suggested to mama that we do an in-home session, she was a little hesitant. She was concerned their home wouldn’t be “good enough” for photos. I assured her that as long as they had windows for natural light, it would be plenty good enough!
The session day arrived, and I came in with dresses for mama and big sister. Along with swaddles, bows, and baskets for baby, ready to create beautiful, timeless images for the family.
Upon entering their home, I instantly fell in love with the lightness and simplicity of their family room. Up against one wall was a large, white couch, which provided an amazing, neutral place for photos. There was also a sliding glass door providing plenty of light, giving me all I needed to create some beautiful images!
Sweet little Grace was adored by big brother and sister and was so calm during the entire session.
A lot of times, when sessions include toddlers, parents worry about how they’ll behave. But I assure mom and dad that with my documentary style, this isn’t an issue! By letting the kids just be kids, they get to play and interact with the family like they would in an every day situation. Giving them small “jobs” or “active prompts” to follow, removes the pressure to have to sit still and behave. I do this by asking big brother or sister to “kiss baby on the head” or “show baby sister the flower”…resulting in sweet, natural photos.
I capture your family exactly like it is, with simply adding in the sweetness and magic of a new baby! This can include dad helping to peel an orange for a mid-session snack or brother doing a headstand on the couch. The more comfortable each family member is, the more real, and authentic your photos will be!

One of my absolute favorite items to bring with me to any session with a baby, is my Moses basket! It’s practical because it gives me something lay the baby in, but it’s also cute and esthetically pleasing! So if you’re interested in purchasing your own adorable basket, you can do that here!
“Five Star Experience! I recently had the pleasure of working with Sara for a newborn photography session, and I can’t say enough about how wonderful the experience was. From start to finish, Sara’s generosity and patience shone through, making the entire process a joy—especially for a sleep-deprived new parent!
She took the time to ensure every detail was perfect, never rushing us, and her calm demeanor put both me and my little one at ease. She even provided a curated wardrobe of comfy and flattering dresses for my daughter and I to choose from. Does it get any easier than that?!
The photos she created are nothing short of breathtaking. Sara has an incredible talent for capturing light and airy images that feel both timeless and magical. I was hesitant to do the session just a few days after coming home from the hospital, but I’m so thankful I did! I’m left with a collection of family memories I’ll cherish forever. If you’re looking for a photographer who combines skill with a warm, giving spirit, Sara is the one. Hands down, highly recommend!” – Morgan C.
